For Valentine's Day, Brad and I hit up one of our favorite nice restaurants, Meritage. We went last year on Valentine's Day too, because unless it's a nice holiday we don't usually spend that much on dinner! It's this great little place on Vliet in Milwaukee. It's pretty small, and to be honest, the crowd is a bit older. But the food is AMAZING! It's a local and seasonal menu, so you never know exactly what you're going to get. But there's generally always a vegetarian plate, chicken, pork, steak, and lots of seafood! Last time we went I think Brad had bison.
We started with wine and beer. Brad was impressed because he'd never heard of his beer before, and he said there were a few he hadn't heard of. My wine was good. We also started with a pizza pita, which consisted of mashed butternut squash sauce, spinach, goat cheese, and bacon. Sound a little different, but it was good. They also have fresh hot rolls and butter on your table.
For my main meal I had stuffed chicken. It was covered with prosciutto, and had a side of roasted potato spears. It was very good. Brad had lamb. He really loved both his meal and mine! We also splurged for dessert, which was a chocolate cake, layered with chocolate mouse and chocolate something else on top, topped with homemade whipped cream. To-Die-For!
Meritage is such a wonderful little restaurant. Great for any nice occasion. Just make sure to make reservations, since it is so small. Please try this great place!!! We love it!
